There are different categories of membership available at Coxmoor Golf Club and the respective details are shown below.
FULL Membership (Gentlemen)
The waiting list for this category of membership is closed at present. There are almost 100 candidates currently awaiting entry to the Club and, if the rate is similar to 2007 (approx 15 new members) there are a few years to go before the list is reopened. When the list does reopen then sponsors can obtain Entry Forms on behalf of their candidate. This is restricted to 1 candidate per waiting list. On a pre-determined date the list will be closed and the names drawn to determine order of entry. Candidates will then be interviewed (normally with their sponsor) in order to gain a knowledge of the applicant and his golfing background. It is the responsibility of the sponsor to guide his candidate through all aspects of the Club, the Course and the many different aspects of how matters are dealt with at this Club.
It is a requirement that all new members have a lesson with the Club Professional during the 2-week period his application is posted on the notice-board. This informs all members of those candidates applying to join the Club.
FULL Membership (Ladies)
The Ladies Section control their own waiting list which has operated in much the same manner as the Gents Waiting List. However, there are currently vacancies for lady members (1 May 08). Application can be made now to the Secretary's Office for entry forms and on receipt of the fully completed form, including the sponsors details, the form will be passed to the Ladies Section for consideration.
JUNIOR Membership
There are 80 Junior Golfers at Coxmoor Golf Club. This is considered to be the maximum number of Juniors that can be encouraged and nurtured on both an individual and group nature. Coaching is offered to all our Junior Members by our Professional Staff on a regular basis. Competitions are held regularly, especially through the School Holidays, and all our Junior members are encouraged to participate.
Junior Membership is gained through the following procedure which was approved by Committee at their meeting on 24th April 2008:
Children and grandchildren of members can go on the Waiting List at the age of 6 years and will be eligible for membership from the age of 8 years. All other children can go on the list from the age of 8 years and will be eligible for membership from the age of 10 years.
The maximum age for a child to be accepted on to the Junior Waiting List is 14 years.
Financial Those who become Junior members before the age of 17 years will pay a Junior Subscription and Entrance Fee (the latter being equal to the amount of the Subscription for that year). Those who go on to take Full Membership at the age of 21 years will pay the annual subscription for that year plus an Entrance Fee (the latter being equal to the amount of the Subscription for that year). Applicants who become eligible for membership when they are 17 years and over will pay the junior subscription and entrance fee (the same as the subscription fee) upon becoming a junior member. If they become full members they will pay the subscription and full entrance fee less the entrance fee paid on becoming a junior member. This would allow all applicants to be offered membership but avoid the situation whereby the applicant could gain access to full membership without paying a full entrance fee.
Procedure Obtain Application Form from Secretary's Office. Complete and return to Secretary's Office. Name will be placed on the Junior Waiting List. Once a vacancy has occurred within the Junior Membership an interview will be offered. After interview a second Application Form must be completed indicating the names of the applicant's sponsor and seconder. This form will be placed on the notice board for a period of 2 weeks. After that time, provided there are no objections from existing members, membership can be offered.
All Junior Members are required to sign the Club Code of Conduct.
Entrance Fee and Subscription prices are available from the Secretary's Office.
All Junior Members are eligible to be considered for Full Membership upon reaching the year of their 22nd Birthday.
SOCIAL Membership
The Club offers the opporltunity for non-golfers to become a member of the Club for purely Social reasons or, in some cases, for those who have retired from their golfing days but wish to retain the opporltunity to use the Clubhouse facilities and meet with old friends. For a fee of under £60 such memberships are available. Each application requires a sponsor with a minimum of 5 years continued Full membership to complete the application. It will be dealt with in much the same manner as normal applications although once approved the entry procedure is quite quick. Some golfers use this membership opportunity whiclst waiting for Full membership.
